peace circles:

Cultivating Connection through deep listening

We all desire to be heard and understood. Peace circles (or “talking circles”) offer the opportunity to listen deeply, speak thoughtfully, and build understanding across differences. Rooted in ancient traditions of communal dialogue, peace circles create space for authentic connection and healing within our communities.

What Is a Peace Circle?

A peace circle is a facilitated gathering where participants sit in a literal or symbolic circle, guided by shared values and a talking piece that moves from person to person. This structure invites each voice to be heard without interruption, fostering mutual respect and intentional presence.

Peace circles are not about debate or persuasion — they are about witnessing one another’s truth. Whether used in congregations, classrooms, or community groups, they help us slow down, listen with compassion, and speak from the heart.
